Objective of Early Release of Prisoners under Supervision

The primary objective of the early release of prisoners while placing them under supervision is to facilitate their early reintegration into society and leading a law-abiding life. It also helps reduce recidivism for the benefit of society as a whole. The two early release under supervision schemes adopt strict criteria in selecting prisoners. Prisoners released early under the schemes are subject to supervision by the staff of the Correctional Services Department and have to comply with the requirements and conditions of the supervision orders during the supervision period.
